Tool tracking should be simple—especially for the people using the tools. At ToolWorks, we’ve always focused on empowering your field teams with intuitive, powerful features. Now, we’re making it even easier to onboard and support field workers with our new Easy Mode — a minimal, streamlined experience designed for those who just want to scan and go.

Why Easy Mode?

Field users often aren’t tech-savvy, and for them, less is more. While ToolWorks offers multiple ways to check out tools — Tool tab, Scan tab, or even Copilot chat — new or occasional users may find the variety overwhelming.

That’s where Easy Mode comes in. Inspired by a customer request for a “Kiosk-style” interface, we’ve built a focused experience with just one goal: Make checking out tools as easy as pressing a button.

How It Works

When a user with Easy Mode logs into the ToolWorks mobile app, they’re greeted with a clean Dashboard and a single, prominent "Checkout" button. No clutter. No confusion.

The streamlined experience includes just four tabs:

• Dashboard: A large, central “Checkout” button and minimal stats (e.g., equipment due)
• Scan: Instantly scan tools to check them out
• Me: View all tools currently in custody
• Menu: Access help and basic app functions

That’s it. No browsing, no chat, no extra steps — just scan and go.

How to Enable Easy Mode

Enabling Easy Mode is easy and can be done from the ToolWorks Web App. Here’s how:

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Go to Settings → Configuration

2. Check Activate Easy Mode for your Field Crew

3. Click Update

4. Click Cancel to return to Settings

5. Go to Roles and select the User role

6. Click Make A Copy, rename it to Field User

7. Ensure only the following roles are selected:

   • Field User
   • Self Checkout
   • (Optional) Self Check In if you want them to return tools themselves
   • (Optional) Field Transfer if they need to transfer tools to colleagues
   • ❌ Uncheck all admin-level roles like View Reports

8. Click Update

9. When adding new users, assign them the Field User role

⚠️ Important: Users with Easy Mode enabled will not have access to the web app. This is a mobile-only experience optimized for simplicity.
